Along The Vistula River
So, we start at 7 Stradomska St., where you get your scooter. Then ride a while on a side-street just to get accustomed to the scooter. Our first stop is Kościuszko Mound where you can admire a fabulous view all over Krakow (entrance to the top is 8 zł per person). And here you can learn that if want to flatter a person living in Krakow you should tell him how astonishing Krakow Mounds are. You can visit the Krakus Mound during the Krakow by Night tour and the Piłsudzkiego and Wandy Mounds on your own. Riding a scooter is the best way to move around the city comfortably and fast, so you can collect all Krakow Mounds during one day! After that we move to Przegorzaly Castle, where the view is equally beautiful though totally different. There is a nice restaurant in the castle so a small coffee and ice cream on the terrace is a good idea. You can see at a glance, as the Vistula approaches Krakow, and, if the weather allows, you can also see the Tatra Mountains within 100 km distance from here. Ok, it's the high time we moved further. As soon as we see the landscapes, we won't be home (I mean scooter's home) till late night. Again scooters bravely take us up the hill. This time, however, the hill is incomparatively less challenging than previous ones. For those who are thirsty of spiritual pabulum we offer prayer within the walls of the oldest existing Abbey in Poland. For those seeking sustenance in a more literal meaning Benedictine restaurant is available, and the desire of commercial fornourishment can be fulfilled in Benedictine shop with products ranging from china, through a wide range of alcohols ending with milk And although the temptation may be great (who would not want to taste the Archbishops' sacramental wine tincture or Capuchin liquor), please refrain from lust if you do not want to return on foot ;) And here is another enjoyable part of the route, because we go across the infrequently used roads immersed in grass directly to Krakow Canoe Club located at 2 Kolna St. This time we have a rather quaint but unique view. Except for air-conditioned rooms, conference hall and restaurant with billiards, the facility has something that our eyes will enjoy the most - the separated directly from the Vistula River canoeing circuit. The object is one of eight centers in the world to become the Continental Training Centre in Canoe Mountain under the patronage of the ICF. Moreover, it is the object of Olympic preparations PAC, but we think that a standard run-off will be enough for the tour participants. Anyone interested in this activity should inform us in advance. Zakrzówek, about which tourists don’t know, is one of the most beautiful, the most monumental and, unfortunately, thanks to the city authorities, one of the least known areas of the city of Krakow. Lagoon was created in 1990 after flooding of the quarry where Karol Wojtyła would work in the 40s. Currently it is a pristine and natural area. You could even say that this is a small copy of Norwegian fjords in Krakow ;) From the height of dozen of meters some people dare to jump straight into the deep on 32 feet of reservoir, in which you can encounter the impressive variety of sunken treasures – a car, a bus, a van and lots of shopping trolleys from the neighboring Tesco;) Apart from the lake itself, another place worth attention is Twardowski Rocks, from which you can admire picturesque view of the of Krakow and its surroundings. Well, having been satisfied with the beautiful view and being sad about end of the program, we are forced to return to the headquarters of our rental and home of all motor scooters - the 7 Stradomska Street. Still enjoying the last moments of driving we can take a moment or two to think about which previously unexplored region of Krakow would be the best to visit tomorrow? You can select from other several scooter trips. |

KRAKOW BY NIGHT ON SCOOTER
Pokaż Krakow by night on scooter na większej mapie
So, we start at 7 Stradomska St., where you get your scooter. Then ride a while on a side-street just to get accustomed to the scooter.
We begin our journey with The Piłsudzki Mound and we need to hurry to catch the sunset there. At a height of 333 m above see-level we see a beautiful panorama of Krakow covering in the shade. This is a great opportunity to do a few photos, so do not forget to take a camera with you! The second point of the path is Dębniki - XIII century village which is now a district of Krakow. This area, in addiotion to its interesting history (in which John Paul II participated), takes us to the first vantage point of Krakow from the perspective of The Vistula River. Returning again to the other side of the Vistula River, we go to Kazimierz (which we will visit again at the end of the tour) to visit the Church on the Rock, and Wolnica Square. Crossing the bridge (the last but one time) we enter another very interesting part of Krakow - Podgórze. Promoted by the city and noticed more often by tourists, we are tempted with mysterious Mountain Lasota, Villa Mira (in which frightens, and the sun has gone and it is quite dark!), the smallest church in Krakow (which is NOT St. Adalbert's on the market square). St. Benedict church is opened only twice a year, but his modest building on the plan of rotunda is really impressive. The penultimate point in the Podgórze is another mound of Cracow - this time Krakus’. However views as to his burial in this place are divided among historians, we won’t dig in search of the debris but we will happy to admire another beautiful view from its summit. From here you can see more industrial areas of Krakow, with chimneys perfectly visible on the fourth plan. After taking some pictures we move on and save the battery of the camera to the next stops. Passing next to Schindler's factory (which you can visit the next day, of course, using our efficient scooters and giving up driving with Melex ;) we come to the Ghetto Heroes Square. And this is another place with rich history and interesting sights. Square contains of alone chairs which are memorial to the resettlement of Jews. Returning for the last time to the second (first?) Side of the Vistula River, this time we stop beside her to look at the Krakow By Night from two banks of the river, from which we see two very different sides of the city. Views are fairly unique, but do not spend more than a few minutes, because we still have some interesting places in Kazimierz to visit before returning to headquarters of the rentascooter. And in Kazimierz we explore two very important points, the Szeroka Street and the Jewish Square, about this time already well-crowded. Guides in addition to lining the history of this area will recommend some interesting places to spend the night among great many pubs, bars and cafes. From The Jewish Square there are literally the last two minutes driving a scooter to go back to the 7th Stradomska Now you need to our next scooter tour for the next day and go for a playful night to one of the Kazimierz’ pub ;) |
